Simeon Pfoutz & Susannah Minnick Pfoutz reared 9 children, Martha was the first white child born in Kettle Creek area.
Martha's husband was Isaac Summerson, and they were the first couple to be married there. (excerp from "Memories of Old Renovo",by Delmar E. Abner. According to Mr. Abner, Simeon Pfoutz was originally from Lincolnsire, England and settled first in Perry Co., PA., then to Kettle Creek area in 1813.)
Another of their children, Nancy Pfoutz, married Samuel Werts (Wertz) in 1845. Samuel Wertz was born in Milton on Dec. 28, 1824. Issue of Samuel & Nancy Pfoutz Wertz, were six sons,and 2 daughters: Viola, died in infancy. Mary Eva, who was deaf, was struck and killed by a train near Shintown. William Casper, Simeon, Daniel, & Samuel all moved to Westport.(William had a store there for many years) John lived on a farm at Barneys Run until 1910, when he moved to Renovo.(John married Annie Proctor from Kettle Creek) David was born Nov 12, 1858, in Dec 1880 married Mary Adeline Stewart of Mill Hall.
