Barbara,
I dont think the Braddocks in SW Penna in the late 1700's were related to the General unless it is quite distant. The immigrant ancestor of this group was Ralph (somethims called Raphael) who was born in 1695. He is first found in Baltimore Co, Maryland in 1728 when he and his wife Elizabeth rent land. He is next found in Loudoun Co, VA in 1760 and probably dies there sometime after 1763. At least three of his children - Ralph, Jr, Francis and John move to what are now Greene and Washington Counties, PA about 1770. I have not been able to trace Ralph back further, but I believe he may be from Ireland. There are other Braddocks in Maryland (Frederick Co) and New Jersey whose relationship , if any, to Ralph, is unknown. Good luck on your search. Al
