Are the non-certified copies the same as the certified? IE, is it a copy of the actual death certificate complete with the names of the parents and spouse and cause of death? I have ordered several certified death certificates in the past at $9.00 each from PA, but would naturally prefer to pay $3.00 for the 50-75 more that I need.

I ordered a birth record for my deceased grandfather several years ago from PA and they gave me a typed extract instead of a copy of the record. Even more troubling, they screwed up and sent the record for my grandfather's twin brother (who was still alive) instead of my grandfather's.

I was thinking of visiting the State Archives this Friday. Does anyone know if they have a list posted online somewhere of what records are currently being scanned and unavailable for copying? I am driving 3+ hours to get there but I'm sure that I'll be able to get 10 out of my list from them.

Thank you!
