Lambert Ruffing was the son of Johann Nikolaus Ruffing and Margaretha Bechtel.

Lambert was born in Kleinottweiler, Bayern, in Jan., 1842. His birth record does not show a birth date, but only that he was baptized on 9 Jan. 1842. In his Civil War pension application he states that he was born on 1 Jan.

He and his parents lived in St. Clair, Schuylkill County and Lambert moved to Locus Gap after 1870.

You'll find him in the censuses up through 1910. He died on 13 Apr. 1913 and is buried in St. Joseph's cemetery in Locus Gap, along with his wife, Mary Shelly, who died on 9 Mar. 1900.

Lambert and his wife had twelve children.
