St. Vincent's Home

I'm wondering how successful other folks have been in getting information from or about St. Vincent's Home -- the one for "unwed mothers" and babies in West Philly. I've discovered a mystery child in my family tree, with a connection to St. Vincent's, and am trying to find out more.

My gr-grandfather had a half-brother, Thomas McCoy, who died in 1904 at age 2. His death certificate lists his doctor's address as St. Vincent's Home. This sounds like a dumb question, but is this definitive proof that this child lived at St. Vincent's? I tried getting his birth record to see if he was born at the home, but the Philly Archives has no record for him even tho he was supposedly born in the city.. ...So, I'm also wondering if the births at "baby" St. Vincent's were always recorded?

thanks for any help!
Sherry
