Gary, is the "Indian John" Miller in your posting re Daniel Miller thought to be "Saucy Jack" Miller of Shade Twp in Somerset Co. and Napier Twp in Bedford? Who is "Indian John" and what is known about him?
"Saucy Jack" Miller supposedly was a packhorse driver on the 1758 Forbes Expedition and had settled at Edmond's Swamp before 1762. He and his family lived there until 1786 except for possibly having evacuated to the east at some points during the Revolution. In 1786, Jack built a tavern about 50 yards from old Fort Dewart on Breastwork Run on the Somerset/Bedford county border. His wife (possibly one of two) was Jennie Higgins, daughter of Michael Higgins and Frances (prob. Hendrickson). Children included John, Michael, William, Mary and Phoebe. Does any of this directly contradict what you know of your "Indian John"? / Tom
