Primitive Methodist Church - Morris Run

Does anyone know where I can find the Primitive Methodist Church - Morris Run records. They were in existance at least between about 1869/70 and 1953. Does any local know an old member who might know something about this? Their church building has belonged to the Calvary Mennonite Fellowship for the last 50 years. Maybe the Methodists moved to another town or closed or changed denominations. Maybe their records are in someone's garage or at some archives or got tossed out. I want to find info on ABERNETHY and LIPSEY members in the 1870's who supposedly belonged to that church.

Looking for info on George LIPSEY 1850- and Elizabeth ABERNATHY 1852- and other LIPSEY’s and ABERNATHY’s in Tioga County, PA especially near Morris Run in the 1870’s. Children were Thomas 1872, John 1874, Margaret 1877, Elizabeth 1880, Georgina 1883. Thomas probably was born in Morris Run.

I believe they came from Scotland about 1872 and were in Clearfield Co., PA by 1880. The may have been members of the Methodist Church. Does anyone know if the Primitive Methodist Church records still exist and how I can search them or get someone to search them for me?

Peace, James R. Davis, 6708 Austin Way, Sacramento, CA 95823. James.davis1@sbcglobal.net 2/10/13.
The Wellingtons would have been related like this:
Ida F. (Wilkey) Hubbard and Benjamin Hubbard's daughter was Gladys Francis (Hubbard) Van Kurin Wellington. She was first married to Glen Van Kurin on 11/2/1923 and then married to James Walker Wellington on 9/28/35. Gladys' daughter, Evelyn (Welllington) Gridley is my paternal grandmother. So, I guess you and I are distantly related!

Google for "rev eh latimer" and see entry in "Official Journal and Minutes of the Genesee Conference" the Rev Ebinezer Latimer has a son, the Rev E H Latimer, hence my guess is Methodist Episcopal. You might also try http://www.joycetice.com for the history of Brandford and Tioga Counties, PA. My interest in E H Latimer is that he taught school where my great grandfather attended in the winter of 1868-69. Based on a school reunion I believe my Professor E H Latimer and your Rev E H Latimer are one and the same. All the best in your search.

He was going to Florida when he left my grandmother. Don't know anything about him after that. My grandmother called herself "widowed", but they never divorced or had any contact after he left her. His name on my father's birth certificate is Jack. I have looked for John also thinking Jack was his nickname.

Looking for info on my grandfather, Jack L. King. Only info I have is from my father's birth certificate that says he was born in Westfield, Tioga Co., Penna. ( assuming around 1894 or 1895). He married my grandmother Mabel Fredenburg in Ridgway, Pa and they had their first son in 1919 in Ridgway. The 1920 census shows them in Ridgway as age 25 at that time. I've called the Tioga Co. courthouse and contacted the Historical Society both, of which, had no record of him or of his family in that area. Can anyone help or suggestions as to where I go from here?

I've found online an obituary for your great grandmother Dora M. Dailey Shellman.

It states that Dora May Shellman was born July 19,1870 in Farmington the daughter of James and Dimmus French Dailey.

The obituary says her husband Jerome Shellman survives her. Some children were mentioned.

This obituary was in a March 19,1947 paper.

You mentioned above that John Shellman married Mary Tuttle. This couple is probably the same parents of my wife's ancestor Francelia Shellman Hyde.

Francelia married George H. Hyde.George's parents and sisters lived in Tioga County.George and Francelia however moved to Corning,Steuben,New York.

Francelia did have a brother Jerome Shellman survive her.She died in 1940.

Hope this helps.

Joyce Tice has an amazing website on Tioga County, PA (and more) history. This is the link for a 1932 Wellsboro Gazette article on Morris Run, which is up the road from Blossburg. There was a Swedish Lutheran Church is Morris Run as of the 1932 article, and today the Siloa Lutheran Church is at Water and Main Streets Morris Run, PA. Population of Morris Run in the 2010 census was 295.

Hope this helps with your research.

Her answer was "you dont need to concern your self" with this. By the dark red skin color all of her decendents carry its obvious there is some Indian blood in there. Can you help me?
Susie-I think I got it! This is what I found-is this correct? Wed. May 3, 1911-Wellsboro Agitator:
Mr. and Mrs. E. King, Mr. and Mrs. E. Wormer and Mr. and Mrs. P. King and families attended the funeral of Mige Taft, which was held at Knoxville on the 24th. Mrs. Taft once resided near here. He died at the home of his daughter, in Hornell, N.Y.
Is this the one you found? Judy

Hi Judy, I sent that through my ancestry site, had a feeling you did not get it. If you use your search engine look for the Green Free Library in Wellsboro Pa. This paper goes back many years. You need The Wellsboro Agitator For May 3 1911 I believe page 3 for Mijamin's obit. Hope this works this time. Susie
