The parents of George Frederick Keifer/Cooper were Abraham KIEFER born 7 Feb 1728 in Breitenbach, died 1764 in York Co., Pa. AND Christina SPRENGLE born 1753 in Pa. The siblings of Frederick Keifer/Cooper were Ludwig born 1755, John Henry born 1756, and Catherine born 1759. After the death of their father, Abraham and Catherine's marriage to JACOB SPECK, Jacob was appointed guardian for Frederick. It is likely at this time that he changed his name to COOPER. They moved to NC about 1780 where Jacob SPECK was killed in the battle of Camden, SC. Frederick was captured but mangaged to escape.
