I'm interested in contacting any researchers who are or have been working with the ancestry and descendancy of Jacob Fletcher/Floesser, d. 1758, of Manchester Twp., York County. He emmigrated with his wife from the Heidelberg, Germany area in the early 1730's, and lived first in Lancaster County, and then in Manchester Twp., York County. His farm lay along the north bank of Codorus Creek, in what is now East Manchester Twp. His immediate neighbor was Georg Liebenstein.
At his death, his son Jacob, Jr. was apprenticed to a tailor, and later married Maria Magdelena Hess, daughter of Caspar Hess, also of York. They in turn relocated to Taneytown, MD, in what was then Frederick County. They raised ten children, and in 1793, moved to Bedford County, PA. It is from this line that I am descended.
Jacob, Jr. had several brothers and sisters, two of which--Joh. Martin and Joh. Philip--ended up in Baltimore. Other siblings included Joh. George, Marianna, Christoph (sometimes called "Stoffel"), Maria Christianna, and Maria Elisabetha. Their birthdates ranged from 1743 (for Jacob, Jr.) to the mid-1750's.
