Albert Deitz, 74, of 15 Walnut Street, Ashland, collapsed on the street within a block of his home Thursday; he was pronounced dead on arrival at Fountain Springs Hospital where he was removed by ambulance.
Born in Columbia County in 1890, he was a son of the late Jacob and Mary Stabler Deitz. He was an Ashland resident for forty years and prior to that resided in Fountain Springs. A carpenter from many years, he was later employed as a watchman at the Goyne Steam Pump Co, retiring a year ago. He was a member of Zion Reformed Church.
Surviving are his wife the former Stella Neiss; one son, Charles, Ashland; and one daughter, Mrs. William Brown, Windber; four grandchildren; and one brother, Jacob, Ashland.
Funeral is on Monday afternoon from the Otto Funeral Home, Ashland, with interment in Fountain Springs Cemetery.
