Former area resident Charles F. Drasher Sr., 96, passed into glory on Monday in Aiken, SC. Born in Drums on March 6, 1918, he was one of 11 children born to the late William and Clara Wenner Drasher. Charles was a 1934 graduate of Hazleton High School, and served with the Army during World War II. He worked locally as a bricklayer for John Kohler Construction Co. of Hazleton, and was last employed as a charge machine and crane operator for Bethlehem Steel Corp. at Sparrows Point, Md. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, the former Olga Wida, in 2002; brothers, William, James, Howard, Leo and George Dasher; and sisters, Barbara Smith, Anna Mastrota, Sara Turse, Cora Zimmerman and Elsie DeAngelo. Surviving are two daughters, Sarah Louise Hall and her husband, Donald, Baltimore; and Sharon Brown and her husband, John, Aiken, SC; his son, Charles F. Drasher Jr. and his wife, Linda, Baltimore; as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Friday from 9 to 11 am at the Butler Chapel of Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home, 530 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Interment will follow in the St. Johns Lutheran and United Church of Christ Cemetery, St. Johns.
