Looking for Ludwig Kemmerling/Kimmerling/Kemberlin, various spellings

Classification: Query
Surnames: Kemmerling, Kimmerling, Bretz
I am trying to find where my 5x great grandfather may have come from. He appears 1st in 1771 in Pine Grove getting a warrant for a tract of land. He remained in the area with his first wife, Anna Christina Bonewitz, until her death around 1804 when he relocated to Frankstown Township, Huntingdon County, PA.

They were parents of 8 children, two of whom the births and baptisms were recorded at the Zion Church/Red Church, one in 1772, the other in 1779.

Ludwig served under Captain Michael Bretz during the Revolution, 6th Battalion, 5th Company, class not given, in 1777.

The US archives say they can find no record of his military service.

There was also a Jacob Kimmerling and a George Kemmerling that both were in the same area around the same time. Not many mentions of George, so he may have been his father. Jacob does appear quite a bit with numerous children as well, so I would think he may have possibly been Ludwig's brother, even serving with him at the same time with Captain Bretz.

Any info is appreciated.
