From what I found in censuses, he had 10 brothers and sisters: Elizabeth (Lizzie), Charles, Caroline, Frederick, Louisa, John, Mary, Amelia, Laura and Annie. A listing in the Philadelphia Birth Registers has Geo. Wash. Fricke being born May 24, 1861 to George and Louisa Fricke. George W. Frick, painter, is listed in the 1890 Philadelphia City Directory at 3233 N 12th along with his mother, Louisa, wid George F. I cannot find George in the 1900 census. Does anyone know of this George Frick?

I am looking for a Jacob K. Parcels who was born in 1820 in Pennsylvania. Delaware / Chester County census information has no Parcels or Parcells family members in 1800 nor 1810.

I suspect that the Parcels may have come east from Indian country based on some family photos but this is conjecture only.

I have found no immigration information for Parcels for this same time period.

The Parcels / Parcells remained in Delaware County for many years and there may be some remaining family members there of who I'm not aware.

All information will be appreciated. This has been a brick wall and the Delaware County archive was of no help when I visited your area in the summer.

Looking for information on the parents and any siblings for William Huntington. William was born 8/8/1844 in Philadelphia, PA, son of William Huntington and Elizabeth (unknown last name). His father was probably born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in Connecticut. According to the census, they were not married before the 1840 Census and appear not to be listed on the 1850 Census. William was listed in Hartfort, CT in 1850 working as a blacksmith for Henry Weller. William joined as a private in Company "L", 1st Regiment of the Connecticut Heavy Artillery and fought in the Civil War. William mustered out in 1865. He went to Jefferson, NH, where he met and married Sarah Hight. They traveled across country and settled in Ukiah, CA.
How to Get In The Cemetery

The cemetery is in bad shape, yes I agree. But it is definitely worth the effort. There are many notables buried in there.

The phone number is 215-229-6038. You will get a machine. Leave a message!!! They do not pick up the phone. You may have to make a few calls, but they will get back to you.

The caretakers make an appointment to let you in. The area is too bad to leave the gates open. They have enough trouble with vandalism with the gates closed. The guides prefer Saturdays. You may want to "show your appreciation", it gets you a lot further and a better tour.

Anyone interested in getting in, plese e-mail me at banshee_87@hotmail.com with "Mount Vernon" as the title. I visit family (Weckerly) buried there, and we are due to make another trip some time this fall when I can get a hold of them. You may be able to get in with us.

Is this William Baker the same one who became a legislator? My GG-grandfather was Abraham Baker b. about 1818 in Franklin Co. His only son was named William. This conforms to the Pennsylvania Dutch naming pattern if a William is the father of Abraham. The 1830 census indicates 2 males between 10/15 years. I am a member of the Bakerdna.net research group which places me in the J2 haplogroup which is consistant with Pennsylvania Dutch.

Ken Baker

Guardiani - Reissman

Can anyone help?
Joseph Cecidio (sp?) Guardiani born appx 1918; m. 2 Aug 1941 Rosemarie Reissmann born 10 Dec 1923. They had 2 children: Joseph Ronald born 21 Feb 1943, Lakanau Hospital and Paul Stephen born 18 Jun 1945, Phila Orthopaedic Hospital.
I was told Rosemarie was 18 and couldn't get married in PA, so they went across the line to Virginia. They were supposed to live in Ardmore, PA. Joseph joined the Army in Dec 1942 (I have his enlistment info) and the story goes, when he came home after WW II - as he was stepping off the bus in PA (in his uniform) a truck hit him and several other soldiers on Memorial Day 1945. Joseph was killed. His wife, Rosemarie was 8 1/2 months with their 2nd son, Paul and living with her parents Max and Katherine Reissmann. Joseph is supposed to be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Darby, PA. I have found very little info on these families.
Father to Joseph: Eustachio (sp?) Guardiani married "Mary" and were from Italy and I think lived and died in Philadelphia in their 50's..I do not have any other info on them.
Their children: Joseph Cecidio (sp?) - b.1918 PA;Anna b. appx 1925 (died with cancer in her 30s);Danny who was also hit and killed by a car; John E. I did find a Eustace Guardiani on a 1920 Census in Phila Ward 4 which I believe is this family but nothing else. I have scoured newspaper archives for info on Joseph being killed but have had no luck.
Rosemarie's parents: Max Reissmann born 24 Feb 1896 in Germany (died Mar 1987) and Katherine Wagner Reissmann born 9 Dec 1898 in Germany. She came to the U.S. on 27 Nov 1927 by way of Ellis Island (I cannot find this info) with her three children: Ericka Clara, Horst Paul (b. 1922) and Rosemarie. Would appreciate any help.

FINDING A MARRIAGE RECORD - HOW TO

I thought I knew that my parents were married in Schuylkill Co., PA in the very early 1930's. About 3 years ago I wrote to Schuylkill Co. without success.

Last year I found a menu from the Bermuda honeymoon cruise my parents took. It had a date in late August 1931. I felt that finally I had all the information I needed. I wrote again to Schuylkill Co. without success. I then wrote to all the surrounding counties hoping that they were married in a town close to the Schuylkill Co. border. Again no luck.

Then, in desperation, I wrote to the Philadelphia city archives (they were living in Phila. at the time) giving them the estimated date and BINGO! there was the application, license and the slip that the person who preformed the marriage (as required by law) returned to the city stating that the marriage took place in Ellengowen, Schuylkill Co., PA, the date and the priest's name. They had driven up to Mahanoy Township (Jacksons Patch) to her mothers home to get married but applied for the license in Philadelphia.

In Pennsylvania the county that ISSUES the license, not the county in which it takes place, is the one that receives the marriage conformation document after the marriage takes place. The county in which the marriage takes place has no record of the marriage unless the license was issued in that county. Check to see were the couple (woman first) were living before the wedding.

If not successful the next best bet are church records.

Good luck with your research, Jack Novicki
Searching for Josephine

My great grandmother seems to be "dodging" me. :)

I see her in the 1900 Census in Philadelphia, PA living on Clarion Street with her aunt and uncle but I have no record of her BEFORE that. I went to try and find her birth certificate but I am unable to find that NOR her death certificate. I have her date of birth from her marriage license. She got married on Sept. 21, 1904 and she was born on June 6, 1887. According to my dad, Josephine had to have died somewhere between 1925-1935.

Can ANYONE help me with this?

Ky'a

My grandfather was an immigrant from Italy and came to the Us in 1913. He landed in Pennsylvania where my Great grandfather was already at. This photo that I have attached is the hand written city on his manifest, however I can not make it out due to the messy handwriting. I'm hoping that someone may see it and recognize the name of the city. I'm not familiar with all the cities in Pa. Hopefully someone may be able to translate it for me that lives in Pa....thanks in advance..Sincerely: Sandy sratl1@comcast.net

I am looking for information on Thomas and Eliza Mason who emigrated to the USA between 1836 - 1841 from England, they appear to have settled in Philadelphia. Don't know if they had any children in England or USA. Thomas may have died before 1860 as he is not with Eliza in the 1860
US Census for Philadelphia.
Eliza seems to have re-married before 1870 to a John Thornbe (Thornby) as in the 1870 US census for Frankford,
Philadelphia. Both Eliza and John probably died before 1880
as I can't find either in the 1880 US Census.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pat

WILEYd - OBADIAH, ABRAHAM, ISAIAH, WILLIAM - PA 1780-1810

I find a will of Obadiah Wiley in Delaware Co., 1750s. Wileys are in Chester Co., Lancaster Co., and Delaware Co. then and later, it seems.
I seek these 4 brothers who appear in Arkansas in 1818, supposedly from PA. Has anyone seen these names (with similar spelling of Wiley)?
It is possible they are the origins of the Wiley line there.
Thank you,
Vance Wiley
Could anyone suggest the best way to check for birth confirmations of my relatives that lived in Philadelphia, late 1800's?

I do not have exact spellings of first names, nor specific birth dates.....many individuals.

Is this information I have to research myself at the Philadelphia Archives? Or is there someplace on line that I can find it?

Any suggestions how to approach this would be appreciated.
