Classification: Query
SAXON, BENJAMIN F Age 9 Sex: M Race: W PA PA YORK CHANCEFORD Township 1880

We find him at age 9 in the 1880 census living with his uncle’s family. Not sure if I got the uncle’s surname correct from the enumerators writing:

All born in Pa and all parents born in Pa
McCullough Thomas Age 60: Farmer:
McCullough Eliza (Saxon) Age 58, Wife, Keeping house
Saxon Mary A. age 46, widowed, sister-in-law, At home
Saxon Benjamin, Age 9, nephew

So, although I can’t tell you where Grahamville, Pa is, I can speculate it’s near York County. Maybe posting in York and Mifflin counties may yield more information.

Do you know Benjamin’s father’s name? He would be in the 1870 census, aged around
36 (assuming near the same age as Mary). There are 23 male Saxon’s in the Pennsylvania census of 1870- none of which are in York County.

There is only one Mary in the 1870 census in Pennsylvania, but she shows up as 18 and is a servant. In Mifflin county.

BTW: Google Granville, Pa. That is in Mifflin county. Could be whoever wrote the documents you have had poor handwritting, or guessed at the spelling.

good luck
