All of the early Strain data for Abbeville is posted at my website http://faculty.nmu.edu/jstrain
This would include information about James, son of John Strain, Sr. (d. ca. 1765) of Abbeville. James was killed during the Revolutionary War. If you need wills or estate settlements, I have copies of all of them, I believe. I include a good discussion on the revolutionary service for all of the Strains. I descend from David Strain, son of John Strain, Sr. (d. ca. 1765).
Let me know if I can help!
