This is in response to the message posted yesterday on this board & e-mail list by Richard _?_ asking about a Mrs. Ben Horne and Foster. I don't have any information about Fosters and I don't have a Ben horne in my computer program.
I do have some information on the Hornes in connection with the descendants of James Booth in the Trenton area of Edgefield District, South Carolina. My interest is in the Booths as my ancestors were Winfrey Whitlock married Elizabeth Booth, dau. of James prior to the 1790 Census of Edgefield District, South Carolina. Her sister, Mary Booth b. 1777 married Elijah Horne in 1797. Elijah Horne bought out the other heirs after James Booth died in Edgefield Dist. c. 1822. Some Horne descendants later moved to Arkansas.
The Horne research was done by John L. Davis formerly of Katy, Texas. He was in the process of relocating to the Hot Springs & Lake Hamilton area of Garland County, Arkansas, a couple of years ago. Sorry I can't put my hands on his current address right now. He has been a member of the OEDGS for several years. He has made several trips to Salt Lake City, Utah, to take genealogy classes and do research on the Hornes. A Horne descendant living in North Augusta c. 1938 had a Bible record which one of Mr. Davis'sobtained information about that time and compiled information on which Mr. Davis began his research.
What I have typed into my gen computer program is that George Horne with an unknown wife had two sons Elijah and Joshua. Elijah Horne and Mary Booth had at least ten children prior to c. 1820. I don't have information on Joshua. I do have some information on the family of Elijah Horne that I got from Mr. Davis.
I hope this information is of help to you.
