Researching the Simpsons of Pendleton Co, SC
(some/all? moved to Hall and Jackson Co, GA.)
Those I am most interested in are probably connected
to Baxter Simpson who shows up in Pendleton by 1800,
b pre 1765 and died 1830-40 in Anderson Co, SC.
Thomas Simpson (b 1765-84) living next door to Baxter
in 1810. The census shows he had 3 males under 10.
(didnt find him in the 1820 census)
Jesse Simpson b 1785 VA. d 1856 Jackson Co, GA.
living next to Baxter in 1810. Jesse m Isabell ?? (poss. Welborn)
They moved by 1840 to Hall Co, GA and then to Jackson Co,
GA. (my line)
Those also showing up with Jesse in the 1840 census of Hall are:
John Simpson (b 1787 SC)
James Simpson (b 1794 SC)
Moses Simpson (b 1818 SC)
William E Simpson (b 1811 SC)- he was the son of Jesse.
In 1832 Pendleton/Anderson Co, SC Baxter Simpson sold land
on Brushy Creek. Wit was Wm. B Simpson, who proved
in Pickens Dist in 1835.
Jesse also sold land on Brushy Creek in 1838. There were many
Simpsons in Pendleton but, not all appear connected? Any help in
sorting out the Simpson families of Pendleton/Anderson would be appreciated.
