Being secretive and mysterious was evidently contagious back in the old Pendleton District of SC in the 1700s as I hit a stone wall in trying to find out who the parents, of my gr, gr, grandfather, William HAMILTON, b. 25 Jul, 1783, SC. He and his wife, Rachel HUNTER, b. Weaver's Creek, Pickens Co., SC, 15 Mar, 1791 or 1792
are bur. in the STONE cemetery, there's a STONE church goes back to the 1800s in that area, and some descendent of these gr, gr, grandparents has/had the first name of STONE. So I have been considering this surname as a possible on the list of maiden names of the mother of William. Maybe it was STONE. I am currently looking into that possibilit along with other possibles on my list.
