Mr. Boyd, I too am searching for the ancestry of the elusive David Boyd (1792-1877). I have a lot on the Pickens line and one of David's children. Mary Ann Dickey Boyd m. William Stewart and they are buried at Generostee. She stayed in SC when , in 1842, David, Matilda, and some of the people from Generostee migrated to Cobb Co., GA to start a church between Smyrna and Marietta, GA. I have a copy of the Session minutes, the first dated Mar 1842. At that meeting the original members of the church voted to call it Bethesda although it was better known as the"Seceders'" church in the community. David Boyd and Cornelius Gordon were the first deacons, and Thomas Turner the first preacher (circuit).
What all this is leading up to is the fact that in 1942 the graves at the church, already looted long since, were moved to build the Bell Bomber Plant (later Lockheed). The claim at the time was that none of the graves were marked. All these folks now lie in Marietta city Cemetary. Where is David??? If you have any information about him I would love to see it. I believe his parents to be John Boyd of Ballymoney? and Jane Bernardo(e). Census indicates David's parents were both foriegn born and these are the only Boyds I could find who were both foriegn born and had a son named David.
Hope to hear from you soon. Gratia C. Hursey
