JOHN B. BURNS b1681 Scotland d1760 Cumberland Co,PA. His wife is unknown. It is said that he was transported on the ship "Elizabeth & Anne" after being captured at the battle of Preston. He arrived unendentured in VA in 1716. He had at least three children: Ann, Martha & Leard. The only info available is on Leard:born in PA and d1784 in CHESTER COUNTY,SC. His wife's name was "Jennett".

Laird Burns & wife Jennett had 7 children:Mary, John, James, Janet, Ann, Martha & Leard #2.For genealogical purposes this query concentrates on James & Leard #2. James Burns was
b1746 Cunberland CO,PA & d1814 Christian CO,KY. His wife is unknown. James had at least 2 children: Laird #3 who was b1784, married Mary Polly Wear in Logan County, KY in 1812 &
he died 1858 in Hopkins Co,TX.

The other child of James Burns is listed simply as "John" married to "Margaret".No other info available on this John
Burns.

Leard Burns #2(brother of James Burns) was b1756 Cumberland Co,PA & died 1840 Roane Co,TN. His wife was "Jane". It is said that after he went to Roane Co,TN,about 1802 his son John Williamson Burns disappeared and the family lost track of him completely.By coincidence my GGGF John Burns seems to have "appeared" mysteriously in Bedford County,TN ca1800-05.
My question here would be:Were these two men named John Burns one and the same man?

Another seies of coincidences involves the children of James Burns & his wife Mary Polly Wear. One child was Laird Burns
#3 b1784 in SC. By coincidence my GGGF John Burns was born 4
years later in 1788 also in SC. The second child of James,
"John" was married to "Margaret". Again by coincidence, my
GGGF was also named John Burns and in 1811 he married Margaret Wilson in Bedford County,TN. My next question:Could
my GGGF John Burns have been the same as "John" who was the son of James Burns and brother of Laird Burns #3.

Is ther anyone who can help me decide if and how my GGGF John Burns was related to this family of Burnses that originated in Cumberland Co,PA? All help kindly accepted.
