I am looking for information about the parents of George S. Keenan b 1824, County Antrim, Belfast, Ireland and d. 10/28/1897 in Chester County SC. He is buried at Union ARP Church Cemetery in Richburg, SC.

My George sailed to the US from Belfast, Ireland in 1824 at age of 6 weeks with his parents. I do not have their names but family lore has it that the mothers maiden name was Campbell. he had a 3 year old brother who died on the voyage and was buried at sea. He also had a brother named Stephen who attended and graduated from Davidson College, Davidson, NC as an attorney. He also had a sister named Mary.

George married Margaret Ann Cherry from Landsford community near Fort Lawn, SC on March 3, 1851. She died 8/2/1854. They had 2 children, Edward C. Keenan who married an Estes and Frances Keenan (female) who marred a Livingston. Frances was lost in the hurricane that swept over Galveston, Texas in 1900

After the death of his first wife, George married Ruth Lowrey Carson on Feb 3, 1859 in Columbia SC by Rev. Dr. Thornwell. In a listing on the ancestry.com site I found mentioned in the South Carolina magazine of Ancestral Research, Vol. 10 the following listing:

"On the 3rd instand, by the Rev. Dr. Thornwell at the residence of Mrs. Alex Keenan of Columbia, Mr George Keenan of Chester district and Miss Ruth L. Carson of Colombia."
George and Ruth had 9 children. They are listed below:

Mary Elizabeth Keenan, b 1/21/1861, d 11/16/1945. She married Stanhope Hoover.

Samuel Keenan b. around 1866, d 1919 - never married

Nancy Ellen Keenan, date of birth and death unknown. Buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Tampa, Fl. Never married but raised the children of her sister Margaret Esther Walker.

Margaret Esther Keenan, b. 5/7/1871, died 1/13/1899. Married Robert Walker 11/7/1889 in Blackstock, SC. (This was my gg grandfather)

George Keenan, b 1877 died as a child. Nicknamed "Gopher". Buried at Unior ARP Church Cemetery in Richburg, SC.

Ena Keenan, b 5/1/1875, d 3/16/1943. Married James Graham Alexander 4/20/1893

Ruth Olivia Keenan, b. 8/1876, date of death unknown. Married Eban Roberts.

Joseph Carson keenan, b. 8/4/1878, d. 2/22/1958. Married Macie McGarrity.

Annie Lee Keenan, b. 1/25/1882, d. 2/17/1903. Married Fred McCallum
