I have alerted another "White" researcher from North Charleston, Ken White, regarding your information. Ken can be reached at
kenrogwil@aol.com and some of my information came from him. He is a long time White researcher.
In regards to the location of your Whites from Colleton, I, unfortunately, reside in Florida and am not familiar with Colleton County. However, following is a summary of some information that ties my White family to Colleton:
Title to Realty dated 1 Dec 1868 - Colleton County
James White, farmer of St. Pauls Parish, for 100 dollars grants to John Francis Cocowitch (Husband of Penelope White) of St. Georges Parish that certain tract of land containing 52 and 3/4 acres lying and being upon the Dorchester Road in St. Georges Parish about one mile from Bacons Bridge bounded on the north by by land now of J.R. Davis, East by land of Taylor, Southwest by Dorchester Road and west by land of estate Harberson. Witnesses were P.J. Merservey and J.D. Peeples.
In the marriage record of Penelope White in Charleston, it states that she is from St. Pauls Parish. (The death certificate of the oldest child of Penelope White and John Francis Cocowitch states that Penelope was from Georgetown, SC).
James Andrew White is buried at White Cemetery near Ravenal on land that he donated for the church which is no longer standing. (Ken would have the deed information and James Andrew owned much property).
Census records of James White and Georgianna from 1880 and 1870 indicated they resided in Collins Township and St. Pauls Parish (Post Office of Adams Run) both of Colleton County.
Will send descendant information later.
