Thank you for your interest. I have strong belief that my great-great-grandfather Lewis Jones [b.1814 d.1857] was related to your Stephen Jones' father, Stephen Jones, Sr. I have considerable information on your family I will also share if you do not have already. Stephen Jones, Sr. was from North Carolina originally and he is found as early as 1820 in Darlington District. His other children were Rebecca Jones Courtney, Emily "Millie" Jones White, and Howell Jones. Their mother was Nancy Hatchell. Stephen Jones Sr. married a second time after the death of Nancy in May 1839. He married Mariah (considerably younger than himself which "created a fuss" in the family with his older children. At the time of Stephen Jones Sr. death, he had two living descendants by the name of Luther and Lenora. As Stephen Jones Jr. left Darlington District and moved to Williamsburg District and married Ann Cockfield, so too did my great-greatgrandfather Lewis Jones in the early 1850s and this is where he died near Cowards Turnout. In Stephen Jones Sr. probate records, Lewis Jones was witnessed to have had Stephen Jones Sr. will in hand. Lewis died one year before Stephen Jones Sr. Lewis Jones married Emily Adeline Hill and lived in the Timmonsville area prior to going to Williamsburg District. His son, Calvin Jones, was my great grandfather who first married Mahilie "Aily" Lynch. I have yet to connect with the Lynch family; she is said to have been related to Caleb Lynch. She is buried in Matthews Cemetery at Coward SC. I have several pieces of information that connect, Lewis Jones with Stephen Jones, Sr and his family. You do know that Stephen Jones Sr. was a Free Will Baptist minister as well as Magistrate for Darlington District, Stephen Jones Jr. acted as constable for his father as well as teacher. Howell Jones (son of Stephen Sr) named his first born Lewis Thomas, later known as Thomas Lewis Jones. I found a Jones Cemetery at Cusaac Crossroad in Florence County near Elim Bapt Church where he is buried. I hope this meager sketch will "stir up" interest in our Jones Family Geneology and look forward to hearing from anybody who can help sort them out.
