In the 1790 Census of Georgetown it shows Spencer Bolton and Solomon Bolton as FREE COLOR. I believe this is Father and Son. Spencer had Solomon Bolton who was born Sept 17, 1791 in Prince George's Parish and was possibly named after his Grandfather and he is my 3rd Great Grandfather. He married Rachael Davis in SC on Feb 8, 1811 and they had several children. He enlisted in the War of 1812 on Oct 8, 1814 at Richards District, Columbia, South Carolina and was discharged March 7, 1815 at Charleston. He served under Capt William Taylor Jr. Company and under Col McQuilla and commanded by Lt. Col Adam McWillie in the Creek War. They were in Pendelton in 1820 then in 1830 they went to Blount Co. Tn, They returned to Spartanburg and are seen in the 1840 census along with Spencer. It is not known how many months they actually stayed there before returning to Tn and lived in Marion and Hamilton Counties. Solomon died on July 16,1868 in Illinois. "DID" the first SOLOMON die there in Georgetown area? Would someone check the cemeteries for his name?
I will exchange Bolton Information. I have lots of information on Solomon's family. please answer me privately on my e-mail or by snail at P.O. Box 744 Chowchilla, CA 93610 Thanks.
