YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Gospel Temple Baptist Church for Mr. Moses Watson, 100, who passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Valley Care Northside Medical Center.
Mr. Watson was born May 10, 1911, in Andrews, South Carolina, a son of Alfred and Estelle Scott Watson.
He had worked as a stationary engineer with Youngstown Sheet & Tube (LTV) for 31 years, retiring May 10, 1976.
He was a 68 year member of the Gospel Temple, a former trustee board member and a member of its Male Chorus. He was also a member of the Mahoning - Shenango Valley Male Chorus Union.
He was also a life member of the NAACP and member of the Boys and Girls Club. He enjoyed reading and reciting poetry.
He was a member of Silver Moon Lodge No. 20 A F & A M.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memory, his daughter, Hazel R. Watson of Youngstown; five grandchildren, including Daphne and Charles, whom he helped to rear; five great-grandchildren; godson, Rheuben C. (Merrel) Jones of Youngstown; siblings, Irat Watson, Eva Fulton and Celia Nesmith, all of Rochester, N.Y.; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Lee; 12 brothers, Richard, Amos, Nahmon, Mahlon, Chillon, Harold, Daniel, Caleb, Gus, Carter, Alfred and Belton; and three sisters, Bertha, Mary and Eunice.
Friends may call Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 at the church.
