I bought a huge lot of old books in the last year. Tonight I opened one to find an old Bible. It has no name in it, but it does have the obituary of a Rev. Thomas Brown, who died around Jan. 2, 1969. He is buried in the Grahamville Cemetery, Grahamville SC. The funeral was at St. Paul's Baptist Church at Culver and Waters Ave. The obituary does not state the city. The officiating minister was A. E. Hagins. There are some relatives listed in the obituary that are from the Toledo Ohio area. Mrs. Alice Brown passed away March 26, 1946. I assume that she was the wife of Thomas Brown and perhaps this Bible belonged to their child. Williams and Williams Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. The names listed in the obituary of Thomas Brown are as follows:
Mrs Tom Thomas, Toledo Ohio
Mr and Mrs. Harold Thomas, Toldeo Ohio
Mr and Mrs Jake Brown
Mr and Mrs William Brown
In any case, I would love to return this Bible to some member of the Brown family that would appreciate it. The Bible was very loved, that is apparent The pages are very dog-eared, and it is hand sewn together at the spine. If anyone knows the whereabouts of any member of this family, don't hesitate to contact me, and thanks.
