I'm researching planter Burwell Chick's (b. 1776 - d. 1847) family, wife Massey Henderson Chick (b.1781 - d. 1845), children William Chick (b.?), Pettus Wales Chick(b.1806 - d. 1878), Reuben Sims Chick (b.1812 - d.1876), Mariah H. Chick Thompson, Caroline Sarah Turpin Chick Hodges Hodges, Louisa Virginia Jane Chick Farr, Willhelmina Burwell Chick Chapline. Burwell moved to Newberry Co. @ 1800 from Louisa Co. Va., then to Greenville Co. @ 1825 where he bought Chick Springs but kept property in Newberry & Union Cos. Pettus & Reuben ran general ? store in Newberry after War between the States, buried in Rosemont Cemetery. Pettus had house called "Rose Cottage".
Massey Henderson was daughter of David Henderson & Hannah Sims, also interested in their history, believe they from Henderson's Island in Broad River. Reuben Chick's son Thomas Moorman Chick, probably died in War Between the States, mother was Elizabeth D. Moorman, sister of Robert Moorman. Pettus' wife was Sarah Elizabeth Henderson Chick. Interested! any info on William Chick ( b. @1800 -1805? ).
I'll be glad to share any info I have. Burwell's will can be viewed on the Greenville Co. S.C. board.
