Looking for Ships' Names and Passenger Lists

Surnames: BURCH
Family lore has it that our JOSEPH BURCH was born in St. Philips Parish, Charleston, SC circa 1740. JOSEPH BURCH married MARY ANN FISHER 11 May 1762 in St. Philips Parish, Charleston, SC. They settled in Marion District, SC.

I have not been able to find out who JOSEPH BURCH'S parents are, but if JOSEPH was born in St. Philips Parish, there must be a record naming his parents somewhere. I have contacted St. Philips Episcopal Church and they have no record of JOSEPH'S birth.

JOSEPH BURCH'S son, EDWARD BURCH, married MARY ANN WILSON 02 May 1797 in Charleston, SC.

WILLIAM BURCH married CAROLINA LANGDON 08 Jun 1747 in Charleston, SC. I don't know how WILLIAM BURCH is related to JOSEPH BURCH ~ perhaps a brother?

Family legend also has it that the first BURCH in our line to come to America was JOHN BURCH who settled in the Georgetown area in 1684. I haven't been able to find a passenger list that names this JOHN BURCH or any other records. We believe JOHN BURCH entered America at Charles Town.

I believe we are missing a generation between JOHN BURCH and JOSEPH BURCH.

Can anyone tell me where to look for the answers to these questions?

Thank you so much.

Kathy BURCH Williams
