Hi, No, William , born in 1822, did not come to the USA. Nor did his wife. Their three sons were born in Benz Kreis Kammin, Stettin, Pomerania, Germany. Benz is NE of Stettin. I do have pictures of Ernstine & August, which is your family. Also some info about them. It states he traveled 3 years in the German navy & learned to read & write English by himself. Hattie, his daughter, told he was an intelligent man & had such an aristocratic bearing. He was an artisan as well as a blacksmith & farmer. Ernstine was 1 0f 13 children. Hattie said that her mother didn't have much school education & that the minister in Germany wanted to adopt her so she could finish school buther father wouldn't let her go. Hattie said that she was a very intelligent woman & that there wasn't anything she couldn/t make or do. She was a marvelousd cook & mother. The only thing Hattie ever saw her read was the German Bible. Their 8 children were born in Germany, Illinois, SD & Nebr. The first seven were baptized in infancy in ther German Lutheran Church & Hattie was baptized at 16 in the Presbyterian church. August death was listed as embolism & Ernstine was smallpox. There are more pages on the family, if you want, can we do it just directly?
