The County Auditor would have the tax records, but they probably would charge research fees. Those records may have been destroyed or in archive storage.

I checked the Bureau of Land Management Land Patents for his name; however, he did not obtain his land in that manner (Homestead Act, etc).

The 1920 and 1930 census shows that area was in Custer Township. If you have the full land information, I can show you the location on a topo map. I'd need the Township (north or south) and Range (east or west). If your land document also shows the additional land info, such as the amount of acres, and location (the south half of the northwest quarter...etc). The Township number 110 is not the number for a named township, i.e. Custer, it is a land coordinate. A township is a square of 36 Sections (six miles by six miles in size). A Section (i.e. 22) contains 640 acres. If he owned 160, he had a Quarter Section, but not necessarily all in one quarter of the Section.
