RootsWeb Family Trees has the HALSTEAD family back to Timothy, b. 1633, England, who m. Hannah WILLIAMS, b. NY. The 1790 NY Census has several entries each for HALSTAD, HALSTEAD, & HALSTED. Bedford, Westchester Co., NY, where John, s/o Wm., was reportedly born 8 Mar. 1790, has both Thomas & William HALSTED with families. In Bedford, W., NY, 1800, there were Jacob, Joseph, Thomas (2), & William.
