John P. Derian - formerly of Aberdeen
The funeral for John P. Derian, 73, of Apache Junction, Ariz., and formerly of Aberdeen, will be at 3 p.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Terry Weber officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Gates Funeral Home.
Military committal rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Aberdeen American Legion.
He died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1986, at a Scottsdale, Ariz., hospital.
John Philip Derian was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Aberdeen to Philip and Frances (Rodekker) Derian. He attended Aberdeen public schools, He was a veteran of World War 11.
He married Virginia Rose Omland on Nov. 27, 1952. They lived in Aberdeen. He was employed by the Bradbury Motor Co., and also Voight Buick.
He also owned liquor stores and was an affiliate in the Derian-Houlihan Real Estate Co. He served as president of the local Realtor board. He also was affiliated with the Gerharter Agency. In 1972 he was president of the South Dakota Board of Realtors.
The family moved to Apache Junction in 1972. He was in real estate and operated the Wickiup Trailer Park until 1979.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the VFW, the American Legion, the Elks Lodge, P.M. Trailriders Club, the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce and the Arizona Mobile Home Parkowners Association.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Chloe) Baltikauski, Sacramento, Calif.; one brother, Jack, of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Ben (Lydia) Silva, Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Merle (Louise) DeForrest, Aberdeen.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1971 and two brothers.
Pallbearers will be Jack Houlihan, Everett Omland, Scott Grey, Jon Batteen, Robert Gardner and Jack Tadlock. The organist will be Mrs. Pat Crawford and the church choir will sing. Joe Trautner will be the lector and usher will be Ben Zacher.
