1884 Alexandria Tornado Information

The WPA Guide to South Dakota, written in the 1930s by the Federal Writer's Project says that a tornado hit Alexandria in 1884: "It is still related that in Alexandria, in 1884, when a tornado swept through the town, a woman who took her children into the cellar came up after the storm, lifted the trapdoor, and found the house gone."
A small pamphlet on local history, also written by the FWP and published in the offices of the Alexandria Herald gives the same story.
Could anyone find a more detailed account of this, including the name of the woman? Maybe a newspaper article from the time?
