My grandfather's cousins went to Highmore, Hyde County to homestead in 1910, leaving the truck farms outside Chicago.
The family was originally from Marienburg, Prussia. Those who went to Highmore were Frederick, William, and Charlotte Schirrmacher, the children of Adolph and Elizabeth Schirrmacher. Also with the group was a man named August Fischer Schirrmacher, who had been adopted in Prussia by the Schirrmachers. Charlotte Schirrmacher married Roy Curtis Heasley in ~ 1917. Frederick (called Fritz) died in 1918, but married a older widow named Serena Myers. If anyone knows about this family, I'd really like to hear from you.
