On Wednesday morning the funeral of Mrs. Christ Scheibel took place in the St. Martin's chapen in Sturgis, before a great number of friends of the deceased who had gathered to show their respect and love for a woman whose kindly heart and earnest Christian character had won their admiration.
Mrs. Scheibel was born in Cold Springs Minn., almost fifty eight years ago and has lived in Meade Co. for fifteen years, where her children grew to be respected citizens. Her husband, Christ Scheibel died here two years ago. The deceased left her surviving six children. Mrs. Lois Ott, of Greenville, Minn. Mrs. Anna Donaldson of Custer, Mrs. Sophie Williams of Sturgis, Julia, Agnes, and John Scheibel of Sturgis, and two brothers.
Mrs. Ott and the two brothers were unable to be present at the funeral owing to the great distance.
Death occured about eight o'clock Sunday morning after a stroke of paralysis that came about five-o-clock in the morning, as Mrs. Scheibel had arisen to go about her usual labors. She had had an attack of paralysis some time past but had apprentaly fully recovered. The deceased had been a very energtic and hard working woman and had passed through a life filled with toil and hardships, but throughout all the misfortunes and sorrows that fell to her lot, she bravely carried her burdens and when death came there was none to speak but a kind word for the memory of a true and noble mother.
