I did just visit John's gravesite, along with Ida's, and the rest of my deceased relatives over the holidays, but didn't review our family history book.
An interesting thing to note is that there are many Lebanese folks living throughout South Dakota, most being on the Indian Reservations. Sisseton/Roberts County is part of the Lake Traverse/Sisseton-Wahpeton Indian Reservation. There are two well-known senators, one republican and one democrat, from South Dakota. Joe Robbie is from Sisseton, as well. There's a bit of history, that I've been told about and have long been researching, that indicates the U.S. government classified Syrian and Lebanese people as being the same and, in essence, the same as Native Americans. Many "Syrian/Lebanese" people ended up living on Indian Reservations throughout the Midwest and being traveling salespeople.
