My husband and I are the new hosts for the Shannon County SD website, part of US GenWeb, at Rootsweb. We really appreciate all that Melanie Cox did in setting up the site and maintaining it when she was able. It had been several years since anything was uploaded to the site (1999). Dad grew up on the Pine Ridge reservation, but our family no longer lives in SD. We do hope to get up there in the near future to take pictures, etc. Meanwhile, we recently moved to be near the Family History Library in Salt Lake City- so there are many sources there that I think will be useful to Shannon county researchers. We have already begun census records transcriptions, and those should begin appearing soon.
