Rachel Montgomery was the married name of Rachel Patterson, one of four children (Arthur, Josiah, Elizabeth and Rachel...all born between September, 1787 and May, 1794 in Lincoln County, NC) born to William Patterson and Ann (Alexander) Cunningham Patterson.
Ann (Alexander) Cunningham, a widow, brought a young son, John Cunningham (named after his father, and also mentioned in Ann's will) into her Dec.26, 1786 marriage to William Patterson.
After the August 27, 1793 death of William Patterson, Ann went on to marry twice more, finally ending up as Ann (Alexander) Cunningham Patterson Holmes Craig/Crage. It is interesting to note that of her 4 husbands, 3 (Patterson/Crage) had all been participants in the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780.

I don't know the date of Ann Crage's death. Her Will is not dated, but is entered in Carroll County, TN Will Book A (1822-1865) as entry A/139, between A/138 (August 21,1844) and A/140 (August 25, 1843). Probably in that period, but not definitive.
Don't really know what happened to Rachel Montgomery. Many settlers in western TN at this time (mid 1840's) got the GTT (Gone to Texas) fever. My ancestor, Rachel's brother Arthur was one of them, and my line went that way
I have other data on this group if you're interested. If you find anything along this line, please let me know. Good Hunting!
