I need to find Reuben Hale's father. Reuben was born in 1802 in Tennessee. He appears in the 1830 census for Smith County, TN. Nathaniel Hale(1770-1843) had a son named Reuben who was born in 1813. Nathaniel also lived in Smith County, TN, at one time. The 1802 Reuben must have be related to Nathaniel in some way. I need to know who the father was of the 1802 Reuben Hale. Thanks Brian

Eliza Glascow is age 26
William Ward is aged 27

J P is my ancestor and I suspect the other two are siblings. Ages fit, but what happened to them? Did they stay in the county or move on? Any help and or information on these two would be deeply appreciated. I'm looking for cousins.

My grandfather was Virgil Thomason, he was born 14 Feb. 1892. He Died 11 Sep. 1951. He married Durotha May Bridges, 4 Feb. 1916. She was born 1 May 1900. She died 15 Apr. 1974. They lived in Tennessee. The 1920 Carroll County 8th dist. cencus has them listed with 2 children. Josie Vonell Thomason and James Charles Thomason my father. They may be from the North Henderson county and South Carroll County Tennessee. They had 8 children

Mary A. Meek b. 1818 d. 1882 I believe was married to Seth Wade b. 1807 d. 1888 both buried Taney County, MO. Database online. Year: 1850; Census Place: Long Creek, Carroll, Arkansas; Roll: M432_25; Page: 133A Census shows Mary born in Kentucky but the 1860 Census states she is from Tennessee and she and Seth are living very near a number of Blevins relatives in Long Creek, Carroll County, Missouri. Have been searching for years and trying one more time. Looking for

James W. Walker (parents or siblings or where born in Tennessee unknown). He was born November 9, 1850 in Tennessee

He ended up in Yell, Arkansas no later than 1880 as he married Julia Jarnagin on Jan. 20, 1880 in Yell, Arkansas.

James and Julia had 2 children, the two sons were: Vird R. Walker - born Jan. 6, 1889 in Yell, Arkansas and Oval James (or James Oval in some census data), he was born Feb. 2nd, 1896 in Yell, Arkansas.

Hoping that the name Vird or Oval might stand out as a family name and might be recognized - anyone know how I can possibly find the parents of James W. Walker with no other info than this???

I am researching for the parents of Valerous Peter Angelo who was listed as Valerius Angel born about 1825 in TN living in the Tipton Co. area in the 1850 Census with Calvin b.1828,Eliza b.1830,Joseph b.1831,James b.1832,John b.1833,Mary b.1810. Valerous moves to Woodruff Co. Arkansas before 1860 and starts a family there and he dies there around 1889. You must have looked at Liberty Cemetery not Liberty All Cemetery. It has lots of Civil War soldiers. There are old graves. The name is W. B. Rhodes--nothing else and no other Rhodes. Several Butlers but none born before 1887. holleyps@yahoo.com

William B Rhodes...I don't have a death for...where is Liberty All Cemetery...wow..can you send me a link to that too...so I can check it out.
Sarah Butler-Sampson-Rhodes died in 1909, Carroll Co., TN.
Her first husband John K/P/R Sampson died in the Civil war.
Sarah had 7 children then...she married William B. Rhodes and they had one son. Edward Frank Rhodes.

There is a widow named Sarah who applied for a widow's pension on William B Rhodes, #1,155,811/889,810. This could be a 2nd wife named Sarah since this Sarah got the pension and it should have been denied if they were divorced. Is the William B Rhodes in Liberty All Cemetery Sarah Sampson's former husband?

Sarah was born in/near Mixie Tenn, abt 1869. She had 3 children with husband Ephraim Rowland: Floy, Lennie, John. Her 15 yr old nephew, Joe/James Robertson and his sister came to live with Sarah when both of their parents were killed in a car accident. Sarah lived with Ephraim in the Hollow Rock Junction, Tenn area and died in Bruceton, Tenn about 1957.

James, Rena, Mary and two more children found in Arkansas in 1910. He registered WW I Draft in Pemiscot MO in 1918 listing Rena Bell nearest relative. Her name was "Lorina"

I find public trees on this family indicating wife of John W Rhodes was Mary Kelly. No information as to what happened to Wm B Rhodes.

I recently read, transcribed, and identified an interesting May 28, 1830 Carroll County letter.

The stampless folded letter was mailed from Dougherty's Post Office (later McLemoresville) by Albert N. SCATES (1810-1840) to his "affectionate friend" Melchizedek ("Mell") SPRAGGINS at Mount Laurel, Halifax County, Virginia.

Albert requested assistance with some Virginia business matters and mentioned his brothers Joseph and Fountain SCATES, apparently anticipating a possible family move to Carroll County:

"...if I come which I expect but I don't know whether I will stay there or not.

This country [Carroll County] is a fine country. All the fault I find of this country is that the weather is very changeable. This time is [cold] enough to snow nearly - you may take this as a joke but in fact it is the coldest weather I have seen in my life. The people [have] very bad colds by the certain changes in the weather."

The SCATES brothers left many descendants in Carroll County.

Actually, Millard Mitchum Sr is my grandfather and Bud my uncle so there are close relatives. My mother, Bud's sister, Alice Ann returned to Spring Hill after many years of being overseas. My two brothers and I are the last heirs of Millard Sr.

I'm curious; you mention that your husband lived in Spring Hill for many years? What is his name?

I’m looking for information on a Dan’L A. McCoy and a Cynthia Ann (Beck) McCoy. All I know on the parents of these two are that a Daniel A. McCoy and a S.D or B.D Anderson signed Dan’I and Cynthia’s marriage bond. Dan’L and Cynthia were married on 16 Nov. 1879 in McNairy County, Tennessee. The other record I have on Dan’L and Cynthia is a 1900 U.S census record for Buckhorn Township, Sevier County, Arkansas. On this census record it shows’s Dan’L name as Daniel. It shows that Daniel was born on Jan 1856 in Mississippi. Daniel’s dad’s birthplace is listed as unknown and his mom’s birthplace is listed as being in Mississippi as well.
This census record shows that Cynthia A. (Beck) McCoy was born in Tennessee on Oct. 1861. It also lists her mom and dad both being born in Tennessee as well. This census record is the last thing I’ve been able to find on both Daniel and Cynthia. This same record lists their children and birthdates and states. They are listed below.

I am puzzeled by why a family would move from Wisconsin to Tennessee in 1910? What was in Carroll County in the early 1900's that would precipate such a move. This family didn't stay long, less than 10 years. If any historian has a theory, I would appreciate a reply. There were Youngers and Carters who lived/live in McLemoresville, TN which is in Carroll County, TN.
Don't know if that is of any help.
There was a Younger's Grocery within the last 25 years or so, and of course Dixie Carter (Designing Women) who just died was from McLemoresville.
