Dear Lori thanks for replying to my message. I'm also a SLAUGHTER which is my Paternal line and DAIL is my Maternal line.
I wish I could be of help regarding Bernard SLAUGHTER but all the information that I have found has been from online trees and I have no factual or family data to add to your research.
I'm including here some selected data that I have in my files.
SLAUGHTER - GOSSAGE marriage Pope Co IL
DAIL- HASKINS marriage Anderson Co TN.
From my DAIL/DALE - SLAUGHTER and GOSSAGE family files I have this information.

There is much mystery surrounding my SLAUGHTER line which I've traced to the birth of my great grandfather John R SLAUGHTER 1845 - 1871 in Hardin Co IL. There are no existing records regarding his father or his mothers maiden name.
Several different SLAUGHTER lines passed through Hardin, Pope and Johnson Co IL with migrating patterns out of TN and what I'm attempting to do is to find if any of the DAIL and allied families of Anderson Co TN migrated to Johnson, Hardin and Pope Co IL PRIOR to 1850.
From GOODSPEED'S BIOGRAPHICAL AND HISTORICAL MEMOIRS OF NORTHEASTERN Arkansas - LAWRENCE COUNTY -- DAIL --
Rufus M. Dail. farmer and stock raiser, is a son of William and Nancy (OVERTON) DAIL, natives of North Carolina and Virginia, respectively.
William DAIL moved to the State of Tennessee, and was there married when a young man. He settled on a farm in Anderson County, where Rufus was born, July 11, 1828. and remained there until his death, in 1877. at the age of eighty four years. He served in the War of 1812, and drew a pension for his heroic performances during that event.
* Rufus M. Dail grew to manhood on the farm, and remained with his father until that time. He was married in June, 1853. to Miss Christina SKaggs, of Knox County, Tenn., and settled on a farm with his wife, up to the year 1879.
* when he moved to Arkansas, and located in Randolph County. He remained at that place for six years. and had brought his farm up to the highest grade of perfection. when he sold out and came to LAWRENCE COUNTY, arriving here in 1886. He has resided here ever since, and cultivates the soil, farming. on an average, seventy acres annually.
* Mr. Dail was elected and served as justice of the peace in Anderson County, Tenn., for eight consecutive years, and was also elected deputy sheriff. in which capacity he served four years. He was an old time Whig originally, and since the war has become identified with the Democratic party.
* His family is composed of six children: Nancy J., wife of James Hill, of Lindseyville; Sarah Ann, single; Martha I., wife of Charles Basket; Naomi, wife of Thomas Howard, and Eden S. He has lost three other children: Leroy, who died at the age of twenty-five years; William R., who died in his twenty-fourth year, and James M., at the age of fourteen. Mr. and Mrs. Dail are both members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and Mr. Dail was formerly a member of the Masonic fraternity.
* He is highly respected, and his valuable advice and aid in all enterprises regarding the advancement of his community are very much appreciated. end article as found online.
I also have in my files information regarding Bernard SLAUGHTER most of which I found from researching online trees and historical data, but have not found that any of this line migrated to Hardin, Johnson or Pope Co IL.
My DAIL family moved to Waukegan IL before 1893 and after 1910 moved to Arizona where I spent my childhood.
Additional connecting names with DAIL will include
DAIL - OVERTON - FOSTER - HASKINS - WALLACE
My cousin and I collaborated on book earlier this year which heavily concentrates on the DAILs who left Anderson Co TN between 1840 and 1880.
I've often wondered why my great grandfather Wm R DAIL and wife Sarah Haskins removed the family from the farm in Anderson Co and moved to IL since it appears to me that the family would have fared better financially by remaining there. Alas that question will likely never be answered.
I will certainly post any information to this board if I discover any new historical data regarding Bernard SLAUGHTER and his family.
Best Wishes,
Rachel
