Margaret A. Douglass b: Abt. 1836 in Campbell County, Tennessee , M-Squier (Squier Perkins killed april 1862)
PERKINS, April 03, 1853 in Campbell County, Tennessee **Is she the Margaret Perkins who married JW HAYS in 1865 Campbell County?
Karen,
Margaret Douglass indeed married Squire Perkins first.
They are my GG Grand parents. Squire is buried in the city limits of jellico, go toward Newcomb to first red light out of town, turn left at the Assembly Of God bldg, and cemetary
will be in plain view. Many are buried there. He was killed by confederate soldiers in Cherry Bottom near lake city with Simon Snyder, his brother in law, and a friend Clint Roe. His Daddy, Willam Perkins, went and brought them back to jellico and reburied them.
It is from my experience that, yes, she married a Hayes and went to Whitley County KY. That is where my Great Grandpa
Peter Perkins was raised. His first two children, Squire Jim (1880 where my name came from) and Lewis Frankin (my Grandpa) were born in Rockholds, KY east of I 75 on the first Cumberland falls exit going north. I have not found her grave however. Many of my family was back and forth from Whitley Co as that is the original settling place for them.
I'm glad you also found the name Hayes... I was always a little unknowing about it, however, still sure to some degree.
Please write if you have any questions.
