James Henry Wood was the son of William W. & Martha Ann Jones Wood. He married Hannah J. Vanhooser abt. 1890 they had one child Shelah Brown Wood. He married Hassie Leonia Osment 28 Jun, 1908 in Cannon Co., TN.. They had eight children Lemuel Brown, Giles, Eva, Carmon Fisher, Malcolm, Willie A., Mamie C., & Jimmie Irene. He was a twin to sister Malissa Josiephine Wood.
Obituary.....J. H. (Bunk) Wood Former County Official, Dies....Former Cannon County Tax Assessor J. H. (Bunk) Wood, died Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospital after an extended illness. He was 81. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Wood's Church of Christ with Minister Charles T. Powell officiating. Burial was in Wood's Cemetery under the direction of Woodbury Funeral Home. Mr. Wood was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a brother of the late Ben F. Wood, who served as County Court Clerk for about 23 years. Mr. Wood was County Tax Assessor 8 years and had served on County Highway Commision for a period of 6 years. He was a staunch Democrat and a member of the Church of Christ. He spent his entire life as a farmer and political leader in the Short Mountain section of this county. A native of this county, Mr. Wood was a son of William W. and Martha Ann Blue Wood. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hassie Wood; four sons, Lem Wood, Fisher Wood, Malcolm Wood, and Wille Wood, all of the Short Mountain Community; three daughters, Mrs. Evie Wood, Mrs. Mammie Holder and Mrs. Jimmie Gay all of this county; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Mayne Youngblood, Kenneth Gassaway, Howard Gannon, Willie Burger, Urby Daniel, and Floyd Mathis.
