I can't be sure that either Emma in the 1880 census was yours, but they were the only ones in TN that were near her age and with a birth state of TN as given in the 1900 census. And your Margaret may have either been the Mattie OR the Maggie in the 1900 census - the names are similar. I cannot locate John without knowing his father's name if his age was similar to Mattie or Maggie's - he would still be living in his father's household in the 1900 census. I have a national 1880 census index and transcripts but the rest of my CD's are for Davidson Co. TN. I do have access to a national 1900 index but it is cumbersome and full of errors - and it only lists head of households (not every individual in the household) and you almost have to know the state and county where the individual can be found because there were so many individuals in the nation by 1900.

Thank you for your help! The Mattie in the census you sent me is my great-grandmother. I've never heard of the siblings listed though, still it's her. I was wondering if you knew anyone with any software that would be able to help me with birth and marriage certificates, or other census data? I'm just trying to find out when the other members of the davidson family appeared. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Thank you,
C. Warner

Sorry, I don't know anyone with CD's with that kind of data. You might try visiting the Davidson Co. Gen Web site for sources. The TN State Library & Archives have a website and you can obtain copies of documents from them and also the Friends of Metro Archives in Nashville http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/3661/

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I want to say thank you because you enabled me to give accurate information to family who had some missing relatives in their family trees.

I wanted to know if you could search for Tennessa Davidson, this is her maiden name. She was definetly in the 1880 census with her family. I wanted to see if she had a family by the 1900 census. She was a black female born in Lincoln county, petersburg, TN. I don't know her husbands name. I am also looking for Alec Davidson a black male who was 19 in the 1880 census. I was wondering if he had a family of his own in the 1900 census. Hermatine Davidson is the name of another women who is the sister of Alec, Levi, and Tennessa Davidson. I was wondering her whereabouts in 1900. All of these people are listed as black and should be in TN at the time of the 1900 census. I was wondering what the household of Elijah and Jane Davidson looked like in 1900. Petersburg should be the area they are in.

Thank you soooo much for your help you are a god send!!!

I'm glad to be of help. I won't be able to find Tennessee in 1900 if she was married without knowing her husband's name. It will take me a little longer to search the 1900 census and transcribe it if I find Alec and Elijah but I will be back in touch. By the way, the index did not turn up a Tennessee Davidson because her name here is Tennessea, so the key to finding this census was searching by her brother's name of Alec. The more info you provide, the better results we get. I hope everyone who asks for volunteer lookups are as forthcoming with the info that they know before they ask for lookups.

I could not find Alec (I also tried Alex), Elijah, Jane, Hermatine or Tennessee Davidson in the 1900 TN census. The girls were probably married. Elijah and Jane would have been in their mid-70's - perhaps they moved in with one of the adult children if they were still alive or maybe they moved out of state. I did find Levi on pg. 144a of District 10, Lincoln Co.TN census with a wife and 5 children. He had been married for 12 years. The image was so faint that I don't want to hazard a guess on names and ages. To search for the other Davidson individuals in the 1900 nationwide census (not just TN like I did) would require more time than I am prepared to spend, but I highly recommend the 1900 census subscription at Genealogylibrary.com to you. The monthly rate is $14.99 and the annual rate is less per month. The subscription will allow you to search for an individual nationwide and browse through individual state listings. Images of each household can be viewed with the subscription. Good luck on your research, J. Johnson

Thankyou for your time and help. The last names for Tennessa and Hermatine may be Brown, Smith, or Driver.

Thanks for everything,
C. Warner

P.S Do you know if there were anymore Black Davidsons in Petersburg, Lincoln Co. TN, or Columbia, Maury Co. TN.?

I'm searching for information on William Robert GRAY. He was killed in Nashville, TN in 1914, and is buried at Spring Hill Cemetery.

If you're still doing lookups, please let me know, and I'll send you the information I have.

Thank you,
Joyce
