Simpson Family of Fentress County

Classification: Query
Surnames: Simpson and Reed
I have read several postings here about the Simpson family living in Fentress County in the 1830's and 1840's and afterward. I have gone back and printed out the census records for 1830, 1840, 1850 and 1860. After carefully examining these i have been able to identify this Simpson family with almost 100% certainly.

In 1830 there are the following Simpson's:
Winney, Jonathan, John W, Job, and Braxton.
Winney was the mother of these young men.

In 1840 there are: Elizabeth, Job, Braxton, John, William and John. One of these John Simpson is listed as having slaves and the other did not. The John W Simpson of the 1830 census did not have any slaves. There are several Simpson in Wayne County, Ky in 1830 and 1840. I believe that this John who was a slave holder was part of the Kentucky branch.
Braxton Simpson had a female in his household that matches the age of Winney. The Elizabeth appears to be the widow of Jonathan. John who was listed as John W in 1830 has several children including a son born about 1824. Likewise Elizabeth also has a son around the same age.

In 1850 we get a better look at the familes as all members are named. Again Elizabeth if listed with childen James, Polly and Braxton. Some persons are confusing this James Simpson son on Elzabeth and Johnathan for the James H Simpson who married Margaraet Reed. James H Simson and Margaret Reed Simpson are listed on the 1850 census with their first child Rouse.

I am willing to share information on this family with any who are interested. I am a desendant of James H. and Margaret Simpson.
