I am researching James Bird/Byrd was born in TN and married Nancy Carpenter, daughter of Jesse Carpenter. James and Nancy Byrd lived in Grainger County, TN. A family Bible lists their son, Charles Byrd being born in Grainger County, TN on 15 January 1818. Their children are: Sarah Byrd, Charles Byrd, Jesse Blackston Byrd, Pleasant Byrd, Malinda Byrd, Elizabeth Byrd, James Jackson Byrd, William Byrd, Martin Shelby Byrd (born 24 December 1834 in TN), and Mary Polly Byrd. Martin Shelby Byrd married Letha Jane McPeeters on 9 July 1854 in Stone County, MO. James Byrd married had two other wives after migrating to Stone County, MO: Dicey Lee and Elizabeth Teague. James Byrd is buried in Benton County, MO. Most of the sons left MO and migrated to Brown County,TX.
