Here is an initial compendium I made of Greene County, Tennesseans who came to Greene County, Missouri.

It does include some others and probably is not inclusive of all. Corrections and additions are welcomed and I invite the webmaster of the local Greene Co TN site to incorporate this on the site.

Information derived from the 1830-1850 federal censuses of Greene County Missouri, an 1876 Historical Atlas of Greene County, Missouri, and data drawn off the internet regarding residents of Greene County, Tennessee.

" The mississippi was crossed at Iron Banks, the usual route taken up by the emigrants from Tennessee and from that point slowly traveled up through Missouri to what is now greene co.

Henry, Nathan,
1839 In the wagon was his father, mother and brothers Henry and Benjamin and sister Rhoda, besides himself. In the party were Henry, Nathan, Ann and Bettie Paulsell, also Daniel Delaney and family, Jonathan Pickering and family.

Pond Creek Township

David Reynolds, first settler, came from east Tennessee in 1834, settle on farm now occupied by his widow in section 2, t 28n r24 w (Greene County Archives reprint, 1876 Atlas, p. 19)

Samuel Garoutte emigrated from Greene county, tenn to Gasconade county, missouri and lived there ca. 10-15 came to Pond Creek in 1837 and located in section 27. (Greene County Archives reprint, 1876 Atlas, p. 19) this means he left tennessee between 1822-1827.

Anthony and William D. Garoutte came fro Ohio in 1838. James Garoutte came at same time. All garouttes descended from revolutionary war veteran, french, who settled in new jersey. (Greene County Archives reprint, 1876 Atlas, p. 19)

Warren Werter Garoutte, b. 23 July, 1839 in Washington county ohio. when 8 months, ca. February 1840, the family moved to pond creek township, greene county... 1862 enlisted union arm. farmer , son of garoutte and elizabeth dutton p. 62.
