Classification: Query
Surnames: Senter, Center, Shafer, Shaffer, Schaffer
Martin Sentener is found on the ship Phoenix arriving in PA 1754. This ship started out in Rotterdam and made a stop in England (often took on additional English immigrants) before coming to PA. On this ship are three Schaffers - Johannes, Peter & George.

John Shaffer b. about 1845 - 1919 (may have been a child on the ship with parents) is first found in Washington VA possibly Abingdon Washington VA. John purchases his first land holding in Greene Co TN 1794 but was possibly there in 1771-1772 (early tax records). There are no records from 1772 to 1794. John may have returned to Washington VA until his land purchase in Greene Co TN.
After 1794 John stays in Greene Co TN until he moved in 1817 just before his death in 1819 to Rhea Co TN. John's first wife is unknown and possibly a Senter.
John's names his known sons William, 2nd Thomas, 3rd Henry & 4th Jacob.
Three of John's children have named their Children thus:

Nancy b. 1801 Chucky Greene Co TN m. Rev. John Bolding names 3rd son - Thomas Senter Bolding
Francis 'Franny' b. 1809 Chucky Greene Co TN m. Elsie Quiett names 1st son William Center Quiett
Sarah 'Sally' b. 1807 Chucky Greene Co TN m. Rev. Joseph Thomas names 1st son William C (possibly Center) Thomas.

Any help would be appreciated
