Hi, Jyana,

I have gone back through ALL my notes, my contacts and even again looked at an e-mail from a (no longer a good address) and am not able to find where Edward "Coonie" Smith and his wife, Anna McKinney Smith lived in Jefferson County, TN. Edward C. "Coonie" Smith is recorded both ways: Charles Edward Smith and Edward C. Smith. His headstone says Edward in Kirby Cemetery, Warren County. I first picked up on Jefferson County, TN from my great grandfather William Hamilton Smith's Civil War documents. When "Hamilton" was living in Grundy, his 1st wife was Martha Tate whom he married in 8/1866. This information was a surprise post from a researcher that had traced the Tate family from Centre County, PA (1730-1930). "Hamilton" and his brother James Calvin Smith were in the same Regiment in the Civil War. The "Coonie" Smith and Anna McKinney Smith show up in the 1840 Jefferson County, TN 1840 census records. There's a book by which refers to the marriages in Jefferson County, TN from 1792-1800. When you refer to back-up for Charlie Smith, do you mean Edward "Coonie" Smith? If so, the only thing about him can be found in Kirby Cemetery, Warren County, TN. It gives his date of birth. When his daughter Elizabeth Jane had a child by a gentleman going off to fight in the Civil War, the 1870 Grundy County shows Elizabeth and her child, Margaret Rachel living with "Coonie." If it's okay, can we correspond by e-mail. Mine is I will continue to re-read my notes and will always answer your mail. Happy Trails, Barbara Smith Dunn
