This paper was filed in Raleigh NC Archives in the BERTIE Co NC Estate papers. It concerns Laodecia ( Ludicy, Dicey ) WHITE, widow of Reuben WHITE. He died in Bertie Co NC in 1833 according to another record concerning her dower. In 1850 Hardin Co TN Census, she is in 2nd Civil District, HH # 55.

Know all men by these presents that we, L.S. WEBB ( crossed out) Wm W. CHERRY, Jos. H. ETHERIDGE & Joseph B. CHERRY are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina, in the sum of Two Thousand dollars, current money of the said State, to be paid to the said State of North Carolina; to the which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated in Windsor, this ___ day (crossed out) of Feby ? July ? (crossed out) 1836 ? ( changed to 14 Nov. 1838 )
WHEREAS the above bounden L .S. WEBB ( crossed out ) Wm W. CHERRY hath been this day appointed by the Worshipful Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Bertie County, Guardian to MEADY, THOMAS, WILLIAM, HOLT, HENRY, NICEY, JAMES, PERNICY and MILLY FRANCES WHITE, Orphans of Reuben WHITE, deceased, the Justices whose names appear below being in Court and granted the Guardianship. Now the condition of this obligation is such, that if the said L.S. WEBB (crossed out) Wm W. CHERRY Guardian as aforesaid shall well and truly discharge his said guardianship, by taking care and improving all the estate belonging to the said Orphan ; and shall settle his guardianship accounts with the Court of said County, as is required by law: and that he will deliver up to the said Orphans, as aforesaid, when they shall attain lawful age, all such estate as they ought, of right to be possessed of, or sooner if required, agreeable to law, than this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
