For some reason, I cannot connect to Genforum to post. Therefore I thought I would attempt to deal with it here.

The name on the marriage record is probably as close to the original as possible. In the 1910 census of Hawkins County, he is listed as Frank Francesco. Must have messed up and used the Italian for his first name as his surname. On the other hand, it might actually apply.

Wish he had been young enough to be in the WWI records. Have you attempted to get a copy of his Social Security application? Sometimes it gives a place of birth, name of parents, etc. It might be worth a shot.

Am going to look through the sources I can and see if anything pops up.

As for dear Peter's remarks (he is really a dear...a bit gruff at first, but very helpful in the long run)about using the resources of Ancestry without a subscription...use this site for Ellis Island. It is the best out there:

Bear in mind that Frank could have been married prior. He is a bit old to have been unmarried when he his first wife may have died. You just never know.

Back if I find something.
